The Tourism Prosecution in Abu Dhabi is responsible for investigating and acting on violations and offences committed by tourists visiting the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as soon as possible, in accordance with the decision of His Highness Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), to set up the tourism prosecution and court. Deemed the first of its kind, the move is part of the Emirate efforts aimed at promoting the competitive position of Abu Dhabi economy.
The Tourism Prosecutors have the power to investigate and act on complaints and offences committed by or against persons located within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on a visit or tourism visa to the UAE. Besides, they are in charge of the acts perpetrated in the transit zone of the Abu Dhabi airport, and of issuing orders and decisions concerning the imposing and lifting of travel bans, whether related to a case handled by the Tourism Prospection or by other prosecution offices located in the Emirate.
The Tourism Prosecution office is located at the Abu Dhabi International airport and operates around the clock, in order to ensure the speedy completion of investigations, since speed and accuracy are pivotal in the completion of tourism-related cases taking into account the duration of the visitors' stay.
