Bilingual Case Management Forms

For the majority of cases filed at Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), the first step following registration of the case is attendance at a session before the Case Management Office. A preparation officer will be allocated to the case and they will help prepare the case in a fair and timely manner in readiness for it to be transferred to the competent court. Recognising the importance of this vital stage in court proceedings and to develop and modernise the current procedures with the aim of streamlining the process and increasing access to justice, ADJD has now launched a series of bilingual case preparation forms.

The forms consist of the following features:
  1. Consistent official templates with a modern and simplistic design.
  2. A bilingual, side by side, format to enable Arabic and non-Arabic speakers to understand the procedures and content of the form with ease.
  3. Electronic editing including tick boxes and dropdown lists.
  4. Electronic signature of the Case Manager and/or the Judge.
  5. Environmentally friendly (paperless).

When the case manager or the supervising judge makes a decision that the case is ready to be transferred to the competent court, this form will be completed and sent to the allocated judge. This will ensure that the Judge has a full understanding of the case including the documents that have been submitted, the procedures completed by the case manager and a summary of each party’s position.

The case manager will use this form to keep an accurate record of each session. A copy of the completed form will be made available to the parties upon request. The form will record the session number with the aim of regularly reviewing the time the case has spent in the case management office to ensure that it is dealt with efficiently and in a timely manner. The form will record the names of those who were in attendance at the session and the details of translation that was required, if any. This will ensure that translation can be provided for any future sessions. Additionally, the parties’ demands will be recorded; as will documents received and documents outstanding.

This is a form which records the decision/order that is made by the Supervising Judge. It is a smart, bilingual form to assist the parties and case managers to understand exactly what has been ordered to ensure compliance.

Document Checklists

As part of the effort to improve the efficiency of the case management office, a number of document checklists have been provided for specific types of commercial cases. Such forms will be used throughout the life of the case during the preparation stage and shall be updated every time a document is submitted. If the case type does not fall within any of the document checklist subtypes, the general document checklist shall be used.
